The new Ninja Foodi Digital Air Fry Oven builds off the success of the existing Ninja Foodie products by combining air fryer and toaster oven into one convenient package. This new model not only works as an air fryer but it can also be used as a countertop convection oven, dehydrator, and warmer.

The New Ninja Foodie Oven

Constructed of brushed stainless steel, it’s beautifully finished with rounded corners and with a wider and shorter footprint than a typical toaster oven. When cooled and not in use, the Ninja Oven can be flipped up on one side to stand up at the back of the counter, an odd but convenient storage solution.

In terms of included accessories, this unit doesn’t disappoint. Inside the box, you’ll find an air fry basket, a cooking rack, a nonstick sheet pan, and a crumb tray. Like the unit itself, the accessories look sturdy and well made. They’re larger than the ones you typically find in a toaster oven, as the oven is so wide.

As the name suggests, the Ninja Foodi Oven air fries. However, this unit does much more than just air frying. It also air roasts, air broils, dehydrates, and keeps food warm.

Let’s Talk About Performance

Starting with the Air Frying mode, this was our biggest disappointment in this unit. This does not mean it’s poor but we were expecting a better performance. When compared with dedicated air fryers the results could be a little disappointing. In our tests, some foods come out unevenly fried and without the full crispy results provided by power air fryers.

When it comes to toasting the Ninja Foodi Oven does a great job. In addition to being able to accommodate 9 slices of bread without squishing them it cant toast them fairly evenly. And when used to toast just two or four slices, the results are pretty impressive with great browning on all the sides. If you like bagels, you have a special bagel toasting setting that toasts bagel halves very uniformly.

The Air Roasting mode is another feature available that will work very well. In just under 25 minutes, the oven roasts food to a light brown and tender outcome. You can roast delicious dinners like vegetables, chicken, steak, seafood, spices and more. If you follow the oven booklet’s you will definitely end up getting great results.

In terms of baking the Ninja Foodi Oven has its limitations. Due to its limited height, you’re not going to be able to fit an entire loaf or Bundt pan in this unit. The best alternative is to bake a cake or muffins in a shallow pan or small items like cookies.

A Bunch of Cool Features

Besides all the modes that we already talked about, the Ninja Oven unit still has some more cool features to offer.

The first one is the Air Broiling mode. With this feature active, chicken breasts will come out juicy and perfectly browned on both sides in just 20 minutes. Unfortunately the same doesn’t happen to steaks, they normally end up looking gray on the outside. However, you can still use this mode to perfectly melt cheese over a pizza or in an onion soup.

Another nice feature is the dehydration mode, that works perfectly fine if you want to dehydrate small amounts of foods. You should keep in mind that if want to dehydrate large batches of food, you are better off with a real dehydrator. This mode is like an added bonus that lets you give you firsts steps in dehydrating food.

Last but not least, you have the keep warm mode that can keep your food warm up to 2 hours at safe serving temperature. However, if you let the food for 2 hours in the oven it will dry out. If you’re not going to serve food within a half-hour or so, you are probably better off just reheating it in the microwave.

Easy and Practical to Use

Despite its many modes the Ninja Foodi Digital Air Fry Oven it is actually very simple to use. The digital control panel is very easy to read, and thanks to the selection knob, you can easily select time, temperature and mode. Besides this, the unit preheats automatically and the preheat time is just one minute, so it doesn’t affect the cooking time.

Cleaning this unit is also easy to do and doesn’t require much effort. The sheet pan and the air fry basket can be cleaned in the dishwasher and, thanks to the back panel you can easily access the inside of the oven for better cleaning.

The Ninja Foodi Oven comes with a very thorough and easy-to-understand owner’s guide, as well as a booklet that contains recipes and cooking charts for air frying and dehydrating and a leaflet with instructions on how to build a sheet pan meal.
