Magnolia Table Volume 2: A Collection of Recipes for Gathering

Today we bring you the Magnolia Table Volume 2 review, the newest book from one of our favorite cookbook authors Joanna Gaines.

Following the launch of her #1 New York Times bestselling cookbook, Magnolia Table, and seeing her family’s own sacred dishes being served on other families’ tables across the country, Joanna gained a deeper commitment to the value of food being shared. This insight inspired her to get back in the kitchen and start from scratch, pushing herself beyond her comfort zone to develop new recipes for her family, and yours, to gather around.

Following The Successful Steps of Volume 1

We are huge fans of the first Magnolia Table Cookbook! in our opinion is one of the best home cooking books you’ll find on the market. It’s packed with delicious recipes and great photographs, that invite you to share a seat at the table with Joanna Gaines and her family.

This new volume follows the successful steps of the first one. Magnolia Table Volume 2 is filled with 145 new recipes from her own home that she shares with her husband Chip and their five kids and from the couple’s restaurant Magnolia Table, Silos Baking Co, and new coffee shop, Magnolia Press. From breakfast to dinner, plus breads, soups, and sides, Magnolia Table Volume 2 gives you abundant reasons to gather together.

The book is beautifully photographed and filled with dishes you’ll want to bring into your own home. Thanks to the high number of recipes the lack of options is something that will not be a problem. At least in the first couple of months! You’ll have plenty of options to choose from, including some fans favorites like the Magnolia Press Chocolate Cake or the Pecan Pancakes.

A Very Useful Guide

Magnolia Table Volume 2 opens with an awesome guide to herbs, seasonings, and substitutions. This happens before the first chapter, so pain attention to not skip this part because it’s very useful. This guide features some of the most common herbs available in supermarkets and farmers’ markets. You can use this to get an idea of their flavors and the best ways to use them.

Also in this guide, you’ll have a herb pairings section where you’ll learn to perfectly marriage different herbs for comforting combos and sometimes even unexpectedly wonderful results. Following this section, you’ll find some recipes for different seasoning blends. In this section, you have recipes for Cajun seasoning, Chai Spice, and a lot more things.

Last but not least, at the end of this guide you’ll find a helpful list of substitutions. This really comes in handy when you find yourself in the middle of a recipe and discover you’re missing a key ingredient. This section is also useful if you are allergic to any of the ingredients and you need an alternative.

A Fantastic Cookbook

The first chapter starts by teaching you how to make some special foods made from scratch. Here you’ll find recipes such as Pizza Dough, Gnocchi, and Rosemary Foccacia. Later chapters are primarily composed of popular crowd-pleasers. As we mentioned before you’ll find fans favorites but also new recipes. Cajun shrimp sheet pan dinner, Chicken Florentine, or steak tacos are some of the dishes you really need to try. And of course, you have classics including arancini with marinara sauce, chicken noodle soup, and Philly cheesesteaks.

This is a book that the fans will love! If you are a fan you’ll be delighted to find anecdotes throughout the book. Like Magnolia Table, this book is very personal, working as an invitation to share a seat at the table with Joanna Gaines and her family.
